There are 3 main types of handmade soaps: Melt & Pour - these soaps use an already made soap base which you can melt down then add your own colors and fragrances. It's quick and easy but you have no control over what's used in the soap base and some may contain ingredients that are irritating to your skin.   Hot Process - these soaps use heat to speed up the soap making process. Why you should switch to handmade soap!

When soap is made, 2 parts are created: soap & glycerin. The soap cleanses and the glycerin moisturizes. Most commercial soaps have the glycerin removed, and without glycerin you're left with nothing more than a detergent. Why would they do this you ask?! Because they use the removed glycerin for lotion, which you will definitely need after washing with detergent! So you now have to buy 2 products instead of 1. Super clever! Handmade soaps contain both parts so that they cleanse AND moisturize. And they're pretty too!
